Play It Forward
As my career wound down (after ~42 years) the last few were the most fun. Playing it forward by mentoring junior team members. Letting them learn from my mistakes or my wise decisions helped them to turbo charge thier careers.
Many were thrilled to have an executive sit with them frequently to listen and support them in their endeavors. I'm not sure who got the most out of those sessions.

Are You Open To Thinking Outside The Box?
I always accept a vendor's pitch. I want to understand their product and its current capabilities. Where do they believe the market is going? What is on their current roadmap? Would they customize features for us if we need something not on their current roadmap or would they include it as a later future roadmap deliverable? What is their cost structure? The answers to those questions help me to validate what we are doing and the direction that we are taking
