We live in a polarized world. Friends and family members have been lost because of differing opinions ---- political or otherwise. How did we get here? Many blame social media. That is at least partially true. With the advent of social media, we frequently retreat into our echo chambers ---- our views reinforced by others with similar views. I have always thought of myself (and others) as being like a raw gem. Skilled artisans polish and cut the gems to create many facets (or faces) to reflect the light and to expose a perfect gem from that raw stone. Like the tapestry, I believe that God uses our experiences --- the good, the bad, and the sometimes ugly --- to mold us into that polished stone that He always intended us to be.

When I first stepped into a leadership role, I thought it was all about making the right calls and setting ambitious goals. But soon, I realized that the qualities of effective leaders go much deeper. It’s about empathy, communication, and the ability to adapt under pressure.

Effective leadership isn’t about a single trait or a magic formula. Instead, it’s a blend of qualities, behaviors, and mindsets that come together to inspire, guide, and empower others—especially in high-stakes environments like global telecommunications, where secure and highly available IT systems are non-negotiable.
