Play It Forward
As my career wound down (after ~42 years) the last few were the most fun. Playing it forward by mentoring junior team members. Letting them learn from my mistakes or my wise decisions helped them to turbo charge thier careers.
Many were thrilled to have an executive sit with them frequently to listen and support them in their endeavors. I'm not sure who got the most out of those sessions.
It's rewarding. Try it!
Hitting Your Own Brick Wall
Life for all of us is a roller coaster. Ups and downs, good times and tough times, success and failures across all aspects of our lives. When we do experience those down cycles, we need to make sure that we stop, re-evaluate, and make any mid-course corrections, as necessary. Brick walls have a purpose. Be sure you do not waste your brick wall.

Seek To Understand, Before Being Understood
In these days of polarization, we no longer actually listen to each other. We focus on counter points or rebuttals in many of our interactions. We could affect meaningful changes in our ecosystems if we tried to empathetically listen and understand each other. We often understand problems differently. We have different perspectives.

Stepping Above The Fray To See The Big Picture
A leader needs to be able to see the big picture and the little picture simultaneously. The leader cannot get lost in the labyrinth. We bring on team members that are qualified and capable of doing their part and we need to give them the freedom to do that. Coach as necessary. Assist or provide additional resources as needed, where needed. Being able to give difficult feedback, as appropriate. But above all, make sure we are leading above the fray.

The Power of Presence: A Leader's Journey
This is a delightful story of living in the present, taking the time to interact with others --- even those who we seldom interact, and remembering people and places. People like to be remembered and recognized.
As leaders, we lead organizations of People. A leader is someone who inspires others and has the ability to motivate others to action. A person-centered leader inspires loyalty and respect.

Legacy - Can One Person Change the World? What is your Legacy?
From a poem by Linda Ellis entitled “The Dash”
“I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of the birth and spoke the following date with tears.
But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between the years."
How we invest those dash years depends on our priorities and how we choose to impact the lives of the people and world around us.
